Railroading Excursions
THE WICHITA VALLEY CHAPTER TAKES THE HEARTLAND FLYER
The Wichita Valley Chapter to take a ride on Amtrak's Heartland Flyer one last time before it ceases operations on June 30th. Members to enjoy a weekend filled with railroading history and activities. Itinerary includes the Grapevine Vintage Railroad, Fort Worth Stockyards and the Oklahoma Railway Museum.

Community Education
TEXAS OPERATION LIFESAVER
Texas Operation Lifesaver spent their time in Abilene, Texas with Union Pacific Railroad this last August providing their popular R.I.S.C. Program to local law enforcement and first responders. The current operator of the remaining portions of the ole' Wichita Valley tracks, Southern Switching Company, provided a locomotive for onsite training.

MISSOURI PACIFIC RAILROAD COACH NO. 6184
Local Merkel Citizen Moves a Tye, Texas railroading symbol, Missouri Pacific Railroad Coach No. 6184, to Merkel, Texas beginning renovations to turn it into a trackside diner. Soon you will be able to eat a 50's style burger while watching the trains roll on by.
